The best vehicles 2007 are defined at the exhibition InterAuto-2007

The 14th Award Ceremony Grand Prix Best Automobile 2007 initiated and organized by the most popular magazine Za Rulem took place within the frames of the exhibition InterAuto-2007.

This is one of the most substantial automobile events of the year alongside with the International exhibition InterAuto in Crocus Expo. The Grand Prix awarding of the magazine Za Rulem has taken place annually since 1994.

300 automobiles provided by 60 car makers participated in the contest this year. Only 8 out of them were granted the traditional prize Gold Pegas. The numerous army of the magazine readers were choosing the best automobiles of 2007. 38 000 questionnaires that came to the magazine editorial were thoroughly processed: thus four wheels winners were defined in 8 classes according to European classification:

  • - small class (automobiles below 3900 long);
  • - compact class (automobiles below 4400 long);
  • - middle class (automobiles below 4700 long);
  • - business and lux classes (automobiles over 3900 long);
  • - all-road cars;
  • - mini-vans;
  • - coupe and cabriolet.

For the premium in Small Class Best Car 28 car models competed with Lada Kalina. And the premium in small class won Opel Corsa. Jacek Gorski, General Director General Motors in the CIS countries, was awarded Gold Pegas.

In the Compact Class Nissan Qashquai became favourite. In this class stubborn struggle took place between the sales leader of 2007 Lada Samara and 56 other pretenders. The prize was granted to the Managing Director Nissan Motor Rus Mr. Toru Saito.

In the Middle class among 30 claimants and the sales leader KIA Spectra prize winning place has got Toyota Corolla. The Head of the Russian Representative office Toyota Motors Mr. Nisitani Tomoaki had the honour to receive Gold Pegas.

In the first three classes prizes went to the cars nominated by the magazine Za Rulem editorial but the Best Business Class Car was the car nominated by the readers - Toyota Camry. And again Gold Pegas was granted to Mr. Nisitani Tomoaki.

In All-road cars nomination BMW X5 has been chosen out of 72 candidates. The prize went to the Head of BMW Russia Mr. Kristian Kremer.

In the Mini-van class Opel Zafira confirmed its leadership. And the second Gold Pegas set off to Jacek Gorski office.

A newly established Grand prix Za Rulem 2007 was awarded in nomination Coupe and Cabriolet. The leader of the class was selected by the market - BMW 6-series left behind 40 competitors.

Out of 13 claimants for Gold Pegas in Lux Class the most luxurious was recognized Mercedes Benz S-class. The model was once chosen the king of cars 2 years ago. And now again the Head of the Russian representative office Mercedes Mr. Juergen Sauer received honourable Gold Pegas from the Editor-in-chief Za Rulem magazine Peotr Menshikh.

However the prizes were not limited to mentioned above. One more Gold Pegas was awarded to the winner of the most original nomination - Break of the Year. The winner was chosen by authoritative Public Jury which members were the Pilot-cosmonaut, the Hero of Russia Jury Baturin, the Minister for Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation Herman Gref, the Minister for Transport of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, the Minister for Industry and Energy Victor Khristenko, the Mayor of Moscow Jury Luzhkov, the Governor of St.-Petersburg Valentina Matvienko, the Vice-president of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Oleg Morozov, the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin, Public figure Irina Khakamada, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Evgeny Primakov, the President of the Academy of Russian TV Vladimir Pozner and other well-known persons. The Grand prix in the nomination Break of the Year were received by the Administration of St.-Petersburg for active creation of favorable investment conditions in the city and region. Thus, St.-Petersburg was named the most automobile city of Russia.

But its not yet all! Two person has been chosen out of 38 000 questionnaires by computer at random - common readers who each have received a car. Car Ford Focus went to Alexander Zorin, the mechanic-motorman from the city of Labytnangi (Yamalo-Nenets autonomous region). Volkswagen Passat goes to Tolyatti to the engineer-designer Igor Konanyhin. Happy winners have left directly from the pavilion Crocus Expo where the Grand Prix Awarding Ceremony took place driving their new cars.

The 14th Grand Prix Awarding Ceremony of the magazine Za Rulem was held in a festive mood and friendly atmosphere. All top-managers who rose on the stage for Gold Pegases expressed confidence in the future of our country. Smart cars which appeared on the proscenium during the ceremony, at last, became not an attribute of elitism but realities of modern Russia.

The next festive initiated and organized by Za Rulem is scheduled within the frames of the 2nd Moscow International Automobile Salon-2008 in Crocus Expo.
